Risk control and support

Responsible Gambling

KenoCalc explains gambling math, but understanding probability does not remove gambling risk. Keno remains a game of chance, and losses are possible even when a game has a clearly stated RTP.

Core principle

Only gamble where it is legal, only if you are of legal age, and only with money you can afford to lose. Do not treat gambling as income, debt recovery, emotional relief or a way to solve financial problems.

A calculator can show odds, payout, RTP and expected value. It cannot make a random game safe, predictable or profitable.

Set limits before playing

Risk control works best before a session starts. Decide the maximum amount of money and time you are willing to spend, then stop when either limit is reached. Do not raise limits after losses.

  • Set a deposit limit before playing.
  • Set a loss limit before the first bet.
  • Set a time limit and use alarms if needed.
  • Keep gambling money separate from essential expenses.
  • Avoid increasing stakes to recover losses.
  • Take breaks after wins and losses.

Warning signs

Gambling may be becoming harmful if it starts to affect money, sleep, mood, work, relationships or personal responsibilities. Warning signs can appear gradually and should be taken seriously.

Financial signs

Borrowing money to gamble, hiding losses, using essential funds or chasing losses after a bad session.

Behavioral signs

Gambling longer than planned, breaking limits, lying about play or feeling unable to stop.

Emotional signs

Using gambling to escape stress, feeling anxious when not playing or becoming angry after losses.

Control signs

Trying to win back losses, increasing stakes under pressure or ignoring previous decisions to stop.

Use operator safety tools

Many gambling operators provide tools that can help reduce harm. Availability depends on the operator and jurisdiction, but users should look for these options before playing.

  • Deposit limits.
  • Loss limits.
  • Wager limits.
  • Session reminders.
  • Cooling-off periods.
  • Self-exclusion.
  • Account closure.

Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is a stronger step that blocks access to gambling for a defined period or permanently, depending on the system. If you repeatedly break limits or feel unable to stop, self-exclusion may be more appropriate than softer limits.

Some countries have national self-exclusion systems. Some operators also provide account-level exclusion tools. Use the strongest available option if gambling is already causing harm.

Do not chase losses

Chasing losses means increasing play or stake size to recover previous losses. It is one of the clearest signs of unsafe gambling. Keno variance can create long losing sequences, and increasing stakes during those sequences can accelerate losses.

If you are trying to recover money urgently, stop playing. A random game is not a reliable way to repair a financial loss.

Support resources

If gambling feels difficult to control, free and confidential help is available. The services below provide information, support and referrals; they are not emergency lines. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first.

United States

1-800-MY-RESET

National Problem Gambling Helpline, operated by the NCPG. Call, text or chat 24/7. Text “800GAM” or chat at ncpgambling.org/chat; more at 1800myreset.org. The line 1-800-522-4700 also remains active.

United Kingdom

0808 8020 133

National Gambling Helpline, operated by GamCare. Free and confidential for adults in Great Britain, 24/7 by phone, live chat and WhatsApp. More at gamcare.org.uk and gambleaware.org.

In other countries, look for a licensed national gambling helpline in your jurisdiction, or speak with a healthcare provider. You can also use the responsible-gambling and self-exclusion tools provided directly by your operator. Verify any helpline’s current details before relying on them, as numbers and providers can change.

Consider speaking with someone you trust and limiting access to gambling funds while seeking support. If gambling has created debt or financial pressure, speak to a qualified debt adviser rather than attempting to recover losses through more betting.

Probability does not remove harm

Understanding RTP, expected value and house edge can help users make more informed decisions, but it does not make gambling risk-free. A mathematically clear game can still be harmful if it is played with unaffordable money, excessive time or loss-chasing behavior.

How KenoCalc approaches gambling content

KenoCalc does not present calculators as winning systems. The site is designed to show probability, payout, RTP, house edge and risk. All calculator pages should be read as educational tools, not as encouragement to gamble.
